Job Description

To support our ongoing growth and development we are seeking a SVP, Technology Services. This is a new role, reporting to the CEO, with a broad remit and substantial responsibility. The successful candidate will oversee all development activities (software, Business Intelligence and support services) and can reshape the process meet business goals and needs.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop strategies to meet the company’s goals and objectives, and to improve the quality of the service it delivers internally and externally.  Plan and monitor the successful implementation of these strategies
  • Establish strong partnerships with and deep knowledge of the businesses and become a trusted advisor for technology strategies, plans and services
  • Evaluate the challenges faced by the business and take action to mitigate risks and develop opportunities without compromising quality or service, working collaboratively to prioritize
  • Lead and manage a growing team of software developers, QA, database, BI, business analysts and project management professionals, supporting them in building robust and innovative solutions and to succeed in their roles
  • Establish strategy and best practices for staff to ensure achievement of business objectives. Work with team and senior management to translate strategy into specific performance goals, including relevant KPIs to demonstrate continuous improvement in efficiency, quality, and speed of solution delivery
  • Responsible for the quality and technical approach taken by team members, ensuring it is in-line with the company strategy – and that projects are delivered on time and on budget
  • Ensure best practices are implemented and adhered to throughout the development lifecycle
  • Participates and administers the team’s budget within the overall technology budget, including negotiating cost-effective software and labour contracts; coordinates and implements contractors work, and resolves any disputes over labour, scheduling, or payments

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related; mba preferred
  • 10+ years executive level technology leadership experience including inhouse software development
  • Experience in the market research industry, professional services organisations or large-scale membership/subscription businesses would be an advantage

Technical:

  • Building/Managing Technical Teams/Projects: Proven success building and managing multi-disciplinary and multi-national high performing teams
  • Extensive project, personal and time management skills, with the ability to successfully multi-task across a diverse set of projects
  • Technology Understanding and Knowledge:
    • Ability to monitor, understand and analyse technology trends to project their impact on and then shape technology and business strategies
    • Full span of technical knowledge; development models, development tools/languages/environments, infrastructure (including containerisation, microservices, observability/monitoring), databases, business intelligence, etc.
    • Ability to deep-dive into emerging technologies and interact with internal and external experts; recommending potential solutions that provide efficiencies and competitive advantage
